At the beginning of May, despite not officially participating in the #May30x30, I decided to log my outfits for the entire month as an experiment to see how much of my closet I'm actually wearing. I don't have a strict numbered list of items and my last count in February had me with somewhere around 60 items in my ENTIRE wardrobe (this includes items I intend to sell / donate, seasonal wear and formal wear) and I really loved about 30 pieces that I counted as my capsule.
I find it so much more rewarding to have less clothing now. It has helped me figure out what I really want to be wearing and what my style really is, separate from the trendy clothes at fast fashion stores.
My Roolee pants feel like quite the bold statement item for me and yet they were surprisingly versatile when I just put a few minutes into styling them!
In many ways thrifting is the most feasible financial option for me to build my ethical wardrobe so I rely on snagging second hand finds.
